I am Shijie YUAN, a doctoral candidate in the field of advanced materials at the Functional Hub of HKUST(GZ). I graduated from the Department of Chemistry (ACS) at Purdue University with a bachelor's degree. Three years after returning to China to start my own business, I joined Prof. GAO, Ping's research group to conduct research on the application of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) nanofilms on different wounds and wound healing mechanisms. This research area is a good reflection of the interdisciplinary environment in HKUST(GZ) and is also an important reason why I joined HKUST (GZ). On this basis, the school has devoted a lot of resources to graduate students in the academic field. In terms of hardware, it has a variety of world-class equipment, and in terms of software, it has excellent tutors and technicians in various fields. The combination of these two dimensions will undoubtedly empower the research and learning outcomes here. The academic research of students, coupled with the complementary resource systems of the Guangzhou campus and Clearwater Bay campus, are helping us promote the most cutting-edge research with the most advanced equipment and concepts. In addition, a number of outstanding companies are attracted to visit and share the industry's bottleneck-problems and needs, which has greatly encouraged us to keep thinking about how to bring the research and development results in the laboratory into society and benefit the public. This kind of campus environment, concepts and resources help me grow rapidly in a short period of time, keep learning and break through myself.
